Alick Hayes (1908 - 1983)

British author, actor, screenwriter and director. Born in Manchester in 1908. As an actor he appeared in numerous television shows, mainly in lesser roles. Perhaps best known as the Clerk of the Court in the long running, popular series
Crown Court. More pertinent to this website perhaps, he also appeared in an episode of Flambards TV series. He was creator and director of the first Just William TV drama and also wrote a play based on the Richmal Crompton  William books. He also wrote an episode of Coronation Street.

Lesser known as a writer of stories and articles for children and editor of Boys World Fishing Annual. He wrote only one novel, a pony story for older children. I don't know what his connection was to horses, if any.
